Exactly a week after a Grassy Park diver went missing at sea, his body was found at Saunders Rocks Beach at the weekend.

Diver Muhammad Nur Mitchell’s body was found on Sunday after he went missing at sea while diving with his brother a week before.

It was reported he ran into difficulty while trying to exit the water in rough seas. He went missing on October 22.

Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said an inquest docket had been opened for investigation.

“This office can confirm that the body of the missing diver has been found.

"The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated and a death inquest case docket will be registered.”

National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the NSRI team assisted police divers daily with the search.

“It can be confirmed that a body was found on Sunday morning. The find came after an ongoing week-long search.

“The NSRI team assisted police all week and we were in constant contact with the family,” Lambinon said.

Messages of condolences flooded social media on Sunday afternoon when Mitchell’s brother, Sabri Mitchell, confirmed the body had been found.

Mitchell, 32, was buried according to Muslim rites.
