Cape Town – The motive for the brutal stabbing of a Mossel Bay mother, allegedly by a close friend that led to her death on Monday, is still under police investigation.

Kirsty James was attacked by the 32-year-old suspect at around 3.30pm at her office.

It is alleged that the suspect used a knife and stabbed parts of her body 30 times.

It is yet to be established as to what led to the gruesome incident.

Police said she was stabbed multiple times causing the blade of the knife break off in her body during the attack.

James died on her way to hospital on Monday.

The suspect sustained an injury to her hand during the attack and is currently under police supervision in hospital.

She is said to be known to the family, and a close friend of James and her family.

James’ grieving mother wrote in a post on social media that she forgives the 32-year-old suspect.

“I forgive you for what you have done. Kirsty loved you so much and held you in such high regard, my heart goes out to your family and children,” read the post.

The suspect will make her first court appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on a charge of murder.

James is said to have left behind a young child.

The motive of the murder is still under police investigation.

This is a developing story.
