Two missing girls from Kwadukuza found after intense search

CAPE TOWN - KwaZulu-Natal police with the assistance of the K9 Unit’s, Dante, have been lauded after locating two missing girls on Tuesday.

Members of Umhlali K9 Search and Rescue and Unit Commander responded to a complaint of two missing girls, aged 5 and 15 years, from the Kwadukuza area. The girls allegedly went missing from home after an altercation on Monday.

“The children were spotted in the Kenya Township, Glenhills area late Monday evening.

“(Tuesday) morning, a search was conducted with the help of K9 Dante in a dense field that was pointed out by community members in the Kenya area. After an extensive search, Dante (led) members to the two missing girls.

“The 15-year-old girl was unresponsive and the 5-year-old was found asleep on her sister. Urgent medical assistance was rendered to the older girl who was transported to the Kwadukuza hospital.

“The younger sister was left in the custody of her mother,” police said.

Meanwhile, Western Cape police are still appealing to the public to help locate missing 15-year-old Motheo Bothloko from Brackenfell.

Motheo Bothloko was last seen at her home in Protea Heights, Brackenfell.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said Motheo was last seen at her home in Protea Heights, Brackenfell by her parents on February 5, at about 11.30pm.

She was reported missing by her parents the next day.

“At the time of her disappearance she was wearing an orange colour hoodie jacket, camouflage shorts and pink sandals."

Motheo is of medium weight and average height. She has black medium length hair which is plaited. She wears glasses and has a glass eye. Her eyes are brown.

Anyone who can assist in finding Motheo is requested to contact investigating officer Detective Sergeant Mbeseza-Bangane of the Kraaifontein FCS on 082 522 1045 or anonymously contact Crime Stop at 086 0010 111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211.
