Cape Town – Several Fidelity ADT staff have been suspended after they were seen on video footage firing a number of shots into the air in Delft last week.

About five employees in ADT uniform are seen discharging their firearms while colleagues filmed them in Baleles Road, Delft, last Thursday.

Fidelity Services Group chief executive Wahl Bartmann confirmed that they were aware of the video following an incident in the Western Cape.

“We take the incident very seriously and are urgently investigating the incident to establish all the facts. We are working closely with the South African Police Services. We have a strict code of conduct that needs to be adhered to at all times. We have zero tolerance for any activities which could place either our officers or members of the public at risk.

“All the individuals involved in the incident have been suspended pending the investigation,” said Bartmann.

Delft police said they were investigating a case of discharge of a firearm in a public space.

Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said: “The circumstances surrounding the incident… are under investigation.

“Reports suggested that five unknown armed males discharged their firearms in public on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at around 1.30pm in Baleles Road in Delft. The unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,” said Swartbooi.
