Cape Town - The West Coast National Park (WCNP) flower season is still in full bloom and visitors are flocking in from across the province.

Flower season in the WCNP is at its peak from August to September annually.

Sections of the park that are usually closed to the public are open for visitors to enjoy the wild flowers during this time.

Visitors to the park get to see a wide variety of flowers on display, from daisies to bulbs, and enjoy picnics in the park.

West Coast senior section ranger Pierre Nel encouraged visitors to choose sunny days to visit the park.

Nel also advised visitors to plan their visit on weekdays.

“Weekends are often very busy with queues developing at the gate, and congestion in the flower-viewing areas,” he said.

“We are in the flower season at the moment and we are encouraging people to come in numbers. We are also seeing a large number of visitors, especially now as there are no lockdown restrictions and travel is a lot easier and people are much more comfortable moving around.”

Gate times for Postberg are from 9am to 5pm daily with the last entry at 4.30pm.

Gate times for the general park area from August are 7am to 6pm with last entry at 5.30pm, 7am to 7pm with last entry at 6.30pm in September.

Conservation fees for September are as follows:
