Two men were found guilty yesterday on 14 charges, including attempted murder and rape.
Themba Nasi and Phewe Ndlazelwana appeared in the Parow Magistrate’s Court.
Magistrate Amanda van Leeve found them guilty on three charges of rape, and charges of assault with intention to do grievous bodily harm, sexual assault, housebreaking, pointing a firearm, attempted murder and possessing an illegal firearm, among others.
The judgment was met with relief by the three women who were the victims of the men's crimes after they had entered a shack in Mango Street, Delft South, in April 2015.
The women have attended all court proceedings in the hope the men would be brought to book. One of them, who was raped by Nasi, said: "It has been a very traumatic time. It has taken three years but we are very happy that it will soon be over."
The women were robbed at gunpoint by Nasi and Ndlazelwana.
Nasi, represented by advocate Kenneth Roberts, denied the three rape charges against him.
Police apprehended the two men as they were leaving the shack. They were found in possession of stolen cellphones, money, clothes and keys.
Sentencing will be on May 18.
