Women's #RoxyFitness event hailed a success

Cape Town – Organisers of the free annual #RoxyFitness Run SUP Yoga have hailed the event a success after more than 200 enthusiastic women took part.

The event powered by Surf Emporium, a global initiative motivating women to get active, had a diversified field of athletes from all over the country, foreign visitors and Muizenberg locals.

This year Tracy Ann Duncan, winner of the Mrs Deaf South Africa 2018 title, attended as a special guest to create awareness for deaf athletes and all persons with disabilities, as well as to bridge the gap between the deaf and hearing.

Surf Emporium owner and MC for the day Roxy Davis, a nine-time South African surfing champion, said the event was one of her highlights of the year.

The first leg of the event was a 5km fun run that took place along the Zandvlei’s water edge.

It was followed by the advanced and intermediate Stand-up Paddleboard (SUP) race and finally ending with a yoga session on the grass.

and Fanatic SUP, hosted over 180 ladies for a “how to SUP” session for beginners.

Anna Notten came first in the

5km run followed by Brigitte Joubert in second place and Nadia Mulder in third.

Monika Wohlgemuth won the advanced SUP race followed by Melissa Volker and Elleni Smith.

Sunne Hutchison clinched the top spot in the intermediate SUP Race followed by Camryn Beaton and Emielke Borst in third place.

Claire Davidson was the SUP beginner winner while Lara Jackson came first in yoga followed by Lee-Anne McQueen, Karen Berry and Emily Volker. 

Prizes were awarded for best dressed, as well as first, second and third place in each sports discipline.
