I may be stating the obvious here, but aren’t we glad all the hype, rhetoric, lies and rancour is over and we can get back to normal, and those who we have voted into Parliament will get on and do the job they are paid for, without fear or favour?

Surely the parties can now find common ground, as it seems to me we all want more or less the same thing for our country, with a few deviations.

Let’s put all the bright heads together and come up with something a bit better than we have had to put up with in the last decade.

This does mean President Ramaphosa must get rid of the miscreants in his party.

We cannot eradicate corruption while some of those who have been found wanting are still in his cabinet.

He sat for nine years and we never heard him say one word on state capture or corruption.

So if he was biding his time, the time is now. We who hope for a better South Africa will be holding our breath.
