Durban — An alleged drug dealer is expected to appear in court on Monday after he was arrested by a multidisciplinary team on Friday.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo said Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation and Durban Metro Drug Team arrested a 27-year-old suspect for drug dealing in the Phoenix area, north of Durban.

Mhlongo said officers received information about a suspect who was transporting drugs to Phoenix Highway. A disruptive operation was swiftly conducted and the said vehicle was spotted. Police intercepted the car and a search was conducted.

“During the search, 300 capsules of heroin and 20 pieces of crack cocaine to the street value of approximately R8 000 were found. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly,” Mhlongo said.

“He is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday.”
