DURBAN - Two suspects were caught stripping a Durban North house of metal parts by Marshall Security armed response officers on Wednesday.

Tyron Powell, Marshall Security’s managing director, said a member of the public called the Emergency Dispatch Centre and reported a housebreaking in progress on Adelaide Tambo Drive.

Powell said according to the report, two suspects were seen breaking into the vacant house.

He said multiple armed response officers were dispatched and arrived on scene within minutes.

“While conducting a property check, two suspects were seen inside the house,” he said.

Powell said the officers found the entry point where the suspects had forced open a sliding door and security gate.

The officers entered the property and the suspects were immediately arrested, he said.

“Upon searching the suspects, various housebreaking implements as well as drug paraphernalia were found in their possession. The suspects were in the process of stripping the inside of the house for copper, copper cables and steel,” said Powell.

Powell said the suspects were handed over to Durban North SAPS.

“The Durban North SAPS were dispatched and arrived on scene a short while later. They proceeded to transport the suspects to the police station, where they will be charged for housebreaking and theft,” he said.
