DURBAN - Staff of a primary school in Durban were robbed at gunpoint by four suspects.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said it was alleged by the complainant that on Wednesday at 12 noon he was with his colleagues when they were accosted by four armed men.
“At gunpoint they robbed them of three laptops, four cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash,” she said.
Gwala said the suspects fled the scene in their getaway vehicle.
An alert circulating in Community Policing Forum groups stated that the suspects were in a grey Toyota Etios sedan and they were impersonating the police.
“The suspects were impersonating the police by wearing SAPS masks and SAPS vests. Several phones, laptops and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the staff members,” said the alert.
Police did not respond to the allegation that the suspects were impersonating police officers.
A case of robbery was opened by Sydenham police station for investigation.
