Durban - Two armed suspects robbed a man moments before he could enter Absa bank’s Pinetown branch on Monday.

Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said it was alleged that a man was getting out of his vehicle at 11am on his way to the bank when he was accosted by two armed male suspects.

“At gunpoint, they robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away in their gateway vehicle,” said Gwala.

Rendani Muambadzi, who is the regional executive of Physical Channels KZN at Absa Retail and Business Bank, confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.

“To reduce risk and as a safety measure, we advise customers to avoid carrying large sums of money and to consider the service of security companies where appropriate,” said Muambadzi.

Police said a case of robbery was opened at Pinetown SAPS for investigation.
