A COUPLE were rushed to a nearby hospital after they were assaulted and robbed in their Tongaat home on Sunday afternoon.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala said the complainant alleged that he and his wife were in their home on Marine Avenue in Seatides at 4.30pm when the robbery occurred.
Gwala said four suspects entered the home through an unlocked door and accosted the couple.
“The suspects assaulted the couple before robbing them of their belongings, including cellphones and cash,” she said.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Dylan Meyrick said paramedics were called out to the Seatides home on Sunday evening.
Meyrick said upon arrival paramedics found that two people had sustained extensive injuries after they were assaulted during a robbery.
“Both patients were stabilised by IPSS advanced life support paramedics and transported to hospital for further care,” he said.
Police said charges of assault and robbery were opened at Tongaat SAPS for investigation.
