Cape Town - For Child Protection Week (May 29 to June 5) the online social platform forgood.co.za has launched a dedicated campaign to donate food, toys and toiletries to selected NPOs in the country.

Romy Heldsinger, ForGood’s CEO, said the campaign was about helping to change the life of someone less fortunate.

“Lots of South Africans want to make a difference, but aren’t sure where to start. With this campaign, we’re making it easy and convenient for locals in the three locations to make donations for Child Protection Week. We specifically chose education-focused non-profits for this campaign because they have a significant reach in terms of the number of children they can assist,” she said.

Heldsinger said that children are the most vulnerable members of society and it is important for them to be protected against neglect, abuse and violence and believes that organisations like the South African Education Project (SAEP) are able to do so, if they are supported properly.

Forgood.co.za has chosen three NPOs for the campaign in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town respectively. SAEP is Cape Town’s chosen NPO.

SAEP provides holistic education through academic tutoring, extended experiential learning, life skills and psycho-social support for young children and adolescents from disadvantaged communities.

Donations can be made by visiting the platform at www.forgood.co.za and selecting a cause that people would like to donate to. People are asked to indicate what they are donating and when they intend to drop the items off.
