The FA Cup is reverting to one of its most cherished traditions - the Monday lunchtime draw.

The new format starts with the draw for the fourth round on January 6 and from then onwards it will take place on Monday at 1pm (3pm SA time).

Change has taken place due to popular demand and the difficulties the BBC had staging a match at prime time on Sunday nights.

One of the most familiar images of the Cup down the years are pictures of players gathered around the radio waiting to hear who their next opponents will be.

Both TV and radio will continue to cover the draw but the radio's prominence should be restored with most people at work on a Monday at lunchtime.

The FA are doing everything possible to increase the Cup's profile, including hiring a top PR firm.
