Former Bafana player dies

The South African Football Players Union said in a press release that it was saddened by the death of former Bafana Bafana left back Jacob Lekgetho.

The union sent its condolences to his family and friends.

Former Moroka Swallows and Lokomotiv Moscow died in Johannesburg after long illness.

"Bobo" as his friends knew him had been a loyal servant of Bafana Bafana until he retired from football.

The defender was capped 26 times by Bafana and was part of the team that represented the country at Korea/Japan World Cup in 2002.

The Soweto-born left back was one of the best defenders in the country, and has played against the best players in world. He also played a very important role in the Premier Soccer League. - Sapa
