Former Springbok scrumhalf Piet Uys, died Saturday morning 4.40am

Uys, who won his Springbok colours during the tour of Britain in 1960/61 where he played in all the Tests against Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland, played his last Test for the Boks in 1969 against Australia.

In all he played in 12 Tests, and it would have been a lot more had it not been for serious injury suffered in a motorcar accident travelling from the then Rhodesia where Northern Transvaal played against the Rhodies.

The Springbok, who played all his club rugby for the legendary Pretoria Police Rugby Club, also captained the Blue Bulls during their glory years of the 60s.

Uys all his life remained loyal to the Bulls and during the last few years was involved in administration. - Sapa
