Johannesburg - Moroka Swallows were cruelly embarrassed by the struggling AmaZulu, who beat them 4-0 in an Absa Premiership clash played at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday night.

AmaZulu went on the offensive from the start and showed the qualities needed to get themselves out of the relegation zone. They laid siege to the home side's goal and were unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal for their efforts in the opening minutes of the game.

It was all the visitors in the first half as they kept it tight at the back and created a lot of opportunities but poor finishing from their strike force let them down.

Swallows were starting to come back into it and looked dangerous on a few occasions as they too applied pressure.

But it was AmaZulu who broke through in the shape of Ayanda Dlamini in the 26th minute.

After the goal, Swallows tried hard to equalise, but AmaZulu's defence was uncompromising and it was difficult to penetrate. The score remained 1-0 at half time.

Swallows came back the more determined side in the second half, but Sibusiso Khumalo could only watch in disbelief after his bullet-like shot was parried out for a corner by AmaZulu's keeper, Mbongeni Mzimela, in the 55th minute.

However, it was AmaZulu who increased their tally when Dlamini struck the ball with so much power, beating the hapless Greg Etafia in Swallows goal, to score his second for the day in the 67th minute.

But the story was not finished. Lita Ngxabi also registered his name on the score sheet when he scored AmaZulu's third goal in the 78th minute before Dlamini put the final nail into the Swallows' coffin in the 85th minute to complete his hat-trick.

Swallows will have to improve dramatically if they want to end the season in a respectable position. - Sapa
