As Bafana Bafana's World Cup campaign came to an end,so too did Carlos Alberto Parreira's tenure as Bafana's coach.

We asked our readers: "Who should succeed Carlos Alberto Parreira as Bafana's coach?"

Of the 1 741 people who participated in the poll; 54 percent (934 votes) said "Gavin Hunt"; 28 percent (483 votes) said "Pitso Mosimane"; while 17 percent (291 votes) said "Gordon Igesund" and 2 percent (33 votes) said "Owen Da Gama"

Gavin Hunt should be our next coach. His record speaks volume. We need a coach who understands the local players as well as the style they play especially in the PSL. We also need someone who is disciplined and can lead by examples to players and Hunt is the man. Pitso has always been hiding behind Parreira and Santana, he is also part of the failure of Bafana Bafana, I dont see him coaching the team, he should quit as well !

i would go for Pitso Mosimane as he has been there before and seen it all. i think he has learnt a lot from Carlos. continuity is the best solution. we dont a coach who will come and add to what we have and not bring changes like the ones that was made to the class of 1996 to the detriment of our national team. you need to build and not to destroy. our team is showing signs of maturity and class, we need to build on that.

Gavin Hunt would make a good choice given his track record at SU. Despite not having big names in his team, he has been able to deliver trophies unlike Orlando Pirates (owned by Chairman Of Everything). As for Pitso, I think he can go to hell. He should be punished for complicitity in allowing Parreira to select mediocre players like Modise, Mokoena, Gaxa and Khumalo.

I voted for Gavin Hunt for obvious reasons. We need to get away from doing things along racial lines and get the best South Africans to represent us. I feel in my experience if you have a healthy mix of South African players playing together they will do much better. This world cup has proven that we all supported BB not because of their colour but because they represented our pride and honour. It does not make sense if we insist on selecting teams based on race if 11 Zulus is the best let us have an all Zulu team at the end it is about winning. We need to learn to fight for positions again and stop settling for meritocracy. Let the development sort out the imbalances of the past but if they still don't make the grade so let it be. So I appeal to SAFA look beyond colour and create a culture of winning soccer irrespective of the player's skin shades.

Igusend. No doubt about that. Once again South Africans are getting carried away by current results. Take nothing away from Gavin Hunt. He is the best, but will he cope of mismanagement and interference of SAFA? Will he put his foot down and say NO? By the way Hunt has had a very, very strong and business astitute Supersport behind him. Igusend has managed with lean resources ans has proven again and again that he is man of material. Don't tell me about Pitsoe. I don't want to hear about him. He is not honest with the public. They pushed him to work with clueless Satane, he allowed Parreira to get all wrong. What else is new is he gonna bring?

GAVIN HUNT is the man to lead they way, just had enough of the coaches from Brazil, what good is SA seeing in them?? All they do is just to come here to the rich country and rake all the cash, when they are tired they go back. SAFA needs to catch wake up call before it's too late for everything. G*tvol with the BRAZILIAN coaches........Hunt is the man, even PITSO or any other SOUTH AFRICAN will do

Think Hunt can make a good coach - he leads the players properly - he can also deal with managers of players correctly - he will not be swayed by some analyst who can say it all but not bring anything to the table - he is a true coach for our country - he can instill passion and commitment on the players

Pitso to work hand in hand with Hunt. We need to go down and diversify our players deeply! look for the 19 and 20 year olds mix them with the likes of Booth the 30s guys to nurture talent. We have Indians, Blacks and Whites lets get them all together. Let us start now just after World Cup, use School competitions. Coca Cola and KFC cups as talent search. That can also be an opportunity to use our stadiums not have them as White Elephants.
