DURBAN - The Operation Dudula Movement says it will not back down until the government puts South Africans first.
The movement held their march in Durban today. They marched from the Durban City Hall to the Point police station to submit their memorandum of demands.
Operation Dudula national deputy chairperson Dan Radebe said they wanted the movement’s concerns to be taken seriously.
They submitted a memorandum to Home Affairs in which they called on the government to enforce the Immigration Act in its entirety and to demonstrate political will by managing and protecting the borders.
They also want all foreign nationals visiting the country to abide by the terms of their visa status and to depart upon its expiry.
A memorandum was also submitted to the Point police station by the movement, calling on the police to intensify their investigations into the death of 23-year-old Siphesihle Duma, a student from the Durban University of Technology who was found dead at the beach at South Beach last month. It is alleged that Duma was last seen alive in the company of a foreign national.
